the royal – By matthew dickens
Published By Matthew Dickens • Jan 18th, 2010 • Category: Poetrywe are lovers
lost in mexico
searching for a name
in which
to carve a stolen tree
we are marbles
clocking brilliant
in the perfect bend
of youth
we are strangers
bound together—
bobbing buoys
on the tide
it is likely
we will die
before we meet.

I can’t say I understand the title, but I enjoyed the poem, particularly verse 1.
thank you carolyn. the title ties in with “we”…as in “the ‘royal’ we”.
The genre of poetry I can read constantly and this is one of them. Fine work.
Unusually interesting metaphors, and I agree with carolyn, especially the first verse.
