reality check… – By John Yamrus
Published By John Yamrus • Apr 19th, 2009 • Category: Poetry
i had just
picked up the mail
and found that it contained
a check and a statement
from one of my publishers.
more than a little
pleased with myself,
i took it in to my wife
who was watching her soaps on tv.
she looked at the check…
looked at me…
then turned back to her soaps
and said:
“whatever you do, buddy,
don’t quit your day job.”

Amen to that! I’ve gotten checks like that and I’m still can’t quite my job and I’m an…ahem…certain age!
The poem made me chuckle and the title was on target.
Good job,
Grace
thanks for the plug!

Very amusing poem. Shouldn’t really cause re-armament of battle-weary marriage warriors because it can happen with any relative. I like this poem.
