Eloquence – By Usiku

Published By Usiku • Sep 28th, 2008 • Category: Poetry

Imagination, Faith, Freedom and LoveJoy fashioned a child
The people rejoiced with such exuberance
All beings paused in their orbits
Gratitude and praise were unto the child as sustenance
She flourished
Moving with the ease of grace and bravery
Aroused their wonder
When she breathed, possibilities emerged
Her presence felt as laughter’s lingering satisfaction
Each person understood in their own way
Appreciating, absorbing, appreciating
Gaining permission to be
Submitting to Artistry’s allure
Devolving, leaping from flesh
Floating fluently
Living eloquently
Claiming their birthright as wellsprings of goodwill
Artistry honored her parents with medleys, passion and hope
Likewise, performers, designers and lovers bestowed gifts
Christened with her name
Each child destined to be a savior
So the multitude
Once rivulets seeking sanctuary along hardened earth
Became as sweet milk drawn from a supple, bountiful breast
Thus, their days were nourished
Art inspiring Life
Art inspiring Art

  1. Eloquent is “Eloquence”. What a great poem, to be read and read again.

  2. Thanks for commenting. What do you sense from “Devolving, leaping from flesh?”

  3. I love it! Especially “absorbing, appreciating, Gaining permission to be Submitting.”
I can’t sense much of any thing from “Devolving, leaping from flesh,” except that Spirit is involved.
By the way, why did you choose the title it “Eloquence?”

  4. Usiku, this is a great piece. Good one.

  5. I can’t sense much of any thing from “Devolving, leaping from flesh,” except that Spirit is involved.
Yes, Eliza. Devolving, the opposite of evolving is returning to our pure form which is spiritual. Flesh obscures the spirit. This is contrary to popular thought which thinks we have arrived because we have evolved and that our current state with flesh is our greatest state of existence.

By the way, why did you choose the title it “Eloquence?”
Eloquence captures the process of creation. It describes the creation of life and art as well as the process of living life and living art. It describes what many poets attempt: to add a little more eloquence to the world using art to express life.

    Thanks for the question.
